  • Notes
    • Mr. Wiggins of the Saint John Watchman tells us that "Squire David Phillips received a classical education. He came to N.B. in 1819 aboard the ship Robert Quail, and settled in New Canaan, where he taught school several years." He later farmed at Coles Island, Queen's County, New Brunswick, in an area called Phillipstown, in David's honor. Both are buried in Coles Island Cemetery; their headstone reads: "PHILLIPS/ David d. 6 Feb 1873 ae 79 yrs/ his wife Elizabeth/ d. 22 Dec 1888 ae 85 yrs."
